The mission of Family Options Providers, Inc. is to preserve the sanctity of the family unit and to enable family members to reach the goal of self-actualization.
Company History
Family Options Providers, Inc. grew from a vision of our owner, Cathy McKinney, to see families remain together. In 1998, our owner was looking for a way to earn extra money to assist in the cost of sending her daughter to college. She was approached by the DHHR to be a part of a pilot program to provide in-home services to families that was in danger of being separated or had been separated. The goal of preserving the family or reuniting the family was the driving force of the services that was provided in Raleigh and Fayette County.
The referrals continued to increase and itwas not long before it was obvious that this part time venture was more than one person could handle. The company was expanded to work with part time Professional and paraprofessional contactors. The quality of the service being provided to the families quickly became common knowledge throughout the DHHR offices and the business continued to grow. The owner made the decision to take her part time job to the next level. In 2003, the company was incorporated and office staff was hired.
Family Options Providers now service hundreds of clients in 20+ counties throughout central and southern West Virginia. Family Options Providers has never lost the vision of seeing troubled families remain as a family unit and with this vision as our driving force, we will continue to provide the best service and will continue to expand into other counties until we service families in every county in West Virginia.
On September 2011, outside counsel Robert Patterson Dunlap accepted the position of chief executive officer for Family Options Providers Inc.. Mr. Dunlap had served as counsel for FOP for the preceding four years and began his career as a licensed social worker in the early 90s. This addition to FOP leverages an executive cognizant of federal state and local social service statutes and compliance mandates with a Masters in the Administration of Business with a leadership emphasis.
